N.S.F.L. INFORMATION TO: Parents/Guardians of all NSFL Football Players FROM: The NSFL Executive Board DATE: August 1, 2008 Welcome to the Nassau Suffolk Football League. We hope that your child’s football experience is enjoyable, and that it achieves the goals that the NSFL is dedicated to providing to the youth of our communities. The Nassau Suffolk Football League (the parent organization to which all NSFL town leagues belong), was created in 1981 with the objectives of teaching football and promoting sportsmanship. The NSFL has grown tremendously over the years, and many rules have been modified/adopted in pursuit of these objectives. The NSFL, and all its member towns, have decided that ALL NSFL players (on ALL NSFL teams) must be given the opportunity to play football in every NSFL game. Historically, many NSFL member towns have had their own regulations regarding this “Must Play” issue, with some towns requiring as much as 8 plays per game (as a minimum). The NSFL is now requiring that all town leagues adopt some form of a “Must Play” rule, which must be enforced by each member town themselves. These individual town rules will represent each town organization’s responsibility to their players. These rules will vary from town to town, depending upon each town’s commitment to the spirit of the NSFL goals, and their commitment to the players of their towns. The NSFL firmly believes that any player who has paid to join a member town’s league, deserves to play in every game (with obvious exceptions for medical or disciplinary reasons). This NSFL rule will apply to ALL NSFL games, regular season and Playoffs! We encourage everyone to determine their town’s individual rules, and to make sure that these rules are followed. The NSFL does not want to be put into the position of having to police these requirements. Should your town rules be violated, it is your responsibility to make sure that the appropriate Town Board Member is made aware of the situation. Thank you for your support and cooperation, and we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season. Sincerely, NSFL Executive Board
